Morris County Wrap

Some main Grotepoll.com objectives were not met Wednesday night, I got there after the 1600 and 600, although the Schellberg-Farag matchup did not happen, and did not get Pat his shirt.  So it goes.  We did arrive right as the fast heat of the boys 1000m was lined up and ready to go...

Closing the doors on Drew for the season...




Starting with the O'Leary Lid-Lifter on December 17th and ending tonight with the Morris County Championships, over a dozen meets have been jammed into the span of just over a month.  Christmas and New Year's have come and gone, the Jets have at least one more game to play, some big stars have shone bright on the flat track, others have emerged, and they still don't let anyone wear spikes...

Valentine Invite Highlights

Still some track going on at Drew last night, whilst Pat Schellberg was tearing it up in Washington Heights.  Nick Vena, 70-7.75 in the shot, ho-hum.  Sparta frosh Claudia Disomma wins 1600m in 5:06.33 and 1000m in 3:01.96.  Fresh off the soccer field, and first meet not racing in trainers, look out for her.  She could be very good at running. 

   

Expanding HS Coverage of The Sunshine State

Its one of our largest, sunniest, warmest states, many alligators live there...far more than in Jersey, and they also had 6 Foot Locker National qualifiers, far more than Jersey.  None of them were alligators.  Check back here for links and coverage of one of the best track states out there, thanks to the Milesplit Florida site (http://fl.milesplit.us/) which covers things in excellent fashion.

With the cross country season now at a close and the track & field season about a month and a half away, it was suggested that we look back at the 2009 season to honor our state's finest.

We are happy to announce the first and second team All-Florida XC Teams and also the runners of the year.  We plan to do the same thing for track & field this summer.

It should be said that, for the most part, the first team picks are pretty self-evident.  The second team picks were a little harder because there are so many great and deserving runners in the state and various factors you can consider.  Late season performances were favored over early season performances as the deciding factor to fill out the second team.
