Grote's Quotes

" I are pissed "
Chevy Chase in "Fletch"

Summer starts...heading for cross...

"Demons, be gone
Away from me
And come on down to the corner
I got something I want you to see
The burning sun
Too hot for shade"

Summer's kiss isn't over, its just about to start.  NCAA's are in the books.  NB HS Nationals are underway.  Starting next Thursday, lets get some running going from right near the corner of South Street and DeHart in Morristown.  5:30 PM from Morristown Running Company.  I do not expect Greg Dulli to attend.

Calling all Cross Coaches and fans and athletes...

'Tis almost the season...or at least time to start thinking about it and training for it.  A little over 5-months from now, the NCAA X-C Championships will take place once again in Terre Haute...the single greatest sporting event out there...until the day that the Jets make the Super Bowl.  Being that I'm not very smart, I welcome input and opinions from any and all college and high school coaches, athletes, pundits, fans, whatever.  On or off the record...let me know what you think (just specify off the record if you don't want to be quoted...example: if my buddy Vin emails me "Stanfurd sucks...I've always thought so even when I worked there" he may want to be off-the-record).  Thoughts on your squad, other squads, rumors, etc...let me hear it.  Think you know a sleeper team or individual?  Think somebody else is overrated, injured, doomed to be injured?  Passport trouble in Tuscaloosa?  Whatever the case may be, email:  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. In 2010, The Grote Poll will be back in all of its "glory" fully supported, full season.  Of course, the big ticket is always The Grote Poll Top 31, but now there will be expanded high school coverage, more onsite coverage and some nifty, extra special events.  As for high school, how about this guy?  14:56 at Holmdel as a junior...now what?  For now, still some track to deal with, and a matchup with his own twin brother and NJ King of The Deuce, Jeremy Elkaim in Greensboro.  If it ain't track, it ain't jack???  Well, maybe...but cross is boss or hoss, and I don't floss or something.

Meet of Champs...Destined to be memorable in 2010

The last outdoor Meet of Champions I attended was memorable, they all are.  Jason Walton won the 800, he will not be forgotten.  Over the years I've seen Keino and Morris not race each other, and Elmuccio and Slattery go at it.  Who can forget Murad Campbell?  Or Matt Kalwisnky's anchor?  I never thought I'd see anything do what Craig Forys did as a senior...The Nielsen Double.  That night was as memorable as it gets.  So was Bobby Papazian's senior year, big victory, sub-9, and end to a great high school career.  Or just...Fred Sharpe.  Like many things, you never forget your first
