May 1st, invite season begins, which overlaps relay season and leads right into county and conference championship season...what a schedule.  If you need coffee on your way to the meet, I recommend picking some up at the B'ville train station...very good breakfast sandwiches, too...avoid Starbuck's.  The Coffee Shop in the center of town is cool, too, Mike Tyson used to hang out there before anybody in this meet was born...but tougher to park.  Buona Pizza is the place for lunch, couple generations of old school Bernardsville family there.

And so is the meet.  One of the traditionally excellent invational meets in the state is back on a new track after a one-year hiatus, and is reloaded with some excellent teams and athletes.

Grotepoll.com is there.  We have commemorative meet shirts from Brooks on sale, and some other stuff that doesn't suck from The Running Company.  Stop by to see me, our Brooks guru, and Olympic Trials marathon qualifier Chris Pannone.  This is the spot that launched many a great running career at Bernards and other places...I grew up running at The Wall with names like Logan, Lear, Vigilante, Hallinan, Blanchet, Hudson, and Wetmore.  Pay homage to the tradition by running an excellent race.  Want to go for a good warmup or warmdown, get directions on some good spots.

Following is a preview of the meet, with some guessing games going on depending on who is running what events based on the entry list.  Perhaps one of the more exciting athletes to watch will be Bernards senior Kristin Smoot who anchored the Mounites 4x8 to within fractions of making the final at Penn Relays.  Winner of the Bernards Invite get a watch, too, Ms. Smoot will be after her first before she heads south to Princeton next year.
